Village Approves Modifications to New Townhouse Development
Changes will allow new townhomes to be priced more competitively.

A new townhouse development will feature stone and vinyl facades, Vernon Hills officials confirmed this week.
Sixteen homes in the proposed Greenleaf neighborhood were originally slated to have brick fronts. The development stalled when the original builder was unable to complete the project several years ago. A new developer, Icon Building Group, as since purchased the property and plans to construct the homes on Greenleaf Drive, between Tennyson Place and Swineburn Place.

Charlie Murphy, Icon’s president and chief executive officer, sought modifications to some building materials earlier this month. Officials said the changes would allow the new homes to be priced more competitively.
Murphy said he expects the townhomes to be listed for $189,000 to $209,000.

Other material changes will include fiberglass shingles in place of cedar shake shingles; gable roofs above the garages; the elimination of arched main entryways; and new window placement and design.
The development will include five buildings, each containing two or four units.
