What happens when you challenge 31 teenage actors, four high school tech interns, three adult faculty members, and a half a dozen young designers to mount a production of Monty Python's Spamalot in just three weeks' time? Magic, hilarity, and some pretty amazing theatre.
That's what's been going on at The Children's Theatre of Western Springs since July 7th, and the show is just about ready for avid theatregoers and rabid fans of Monty Python and the Holy Grail to come and enjoy during the only weekend of performances: July 25-27.
What's already fully formed before the curtain rises are the amazing friendships between young artists as well as the sense of mentorship between students and faculty members.
These relationships are part of what sets the Children's Theatre of Western Springs apart. Young people are encouraged to learn, to stretch, and to become more than the lines that they're saying and the elements they're designing. By the time students graduate from our program, they've grown into true collaborators and colleagues. What a treat it is to be a part of that!
Spamalot is sure to be a great deal of fun to watch, but the lessons the students have learned during three challenging weeks of rehearsals and performances will definitely last long after the applause has ended.
Spamalot runs July 25 & 26 at 7:30 and July 26 & 27 at 2:30. For tickets and information about programs at The Children's Theatre of Western Springs, please visit www.theatreofwesternsprings.com
