Are Those Fireworks In Western Springs?

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A woman wrote to Western Springs Patch to question the fireworks-like noises she has been hearing at night recently.

"We called the police the first time it happened a couple days ago, but it just happened again 20 minutes ago," she said in a message shortly after midnight Wednesday.

She said the noises could be fireworks, but they sound different. "We think it might be gunshots, but we don't know for sure," she said.

The woman said the noise seemed to be coming from near Woodland Avenue and 51st Street.

Asked about the sounds, the village police said they were related to fireworks.
