The 16 year olds were issued local ordinance citations for trespassing.

Western Springs police arrested four male juveniles from Western Springs on Aug. 12 after an investigation confirmed they trespassed at McClure Junior High School, and one of them discharged a fire extinguisher inside. The fire extinguisher was taken from a wall near the northwest stairwell, and one of the boys intentionally used it in a hallway, stairway and cafeteria area, causing damage, police reported. A fire alarm was triggered and Western Springs fire personnel responded. The four boys, all age 16, left the school before police arrived. They were issued local ordinance citations, and the one boy who set off the fire extinguisher was issued a citation for criminal damage to property.

Also in recent Western Springs police reports, someone reportedly stole assorted construction tools from an unlocked cabinet inside the Congregational Church of Western Springs. The tools, valued at $349, were taken between Aug. 7 and 11.
