Bugs Alive!

On Wednesday, April 10th first graders at Laildaw Elementary had the opportunity to experience “Bugs Alive” from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in their classrooms.  The first grade teachers of District 101 received a generous grant from WSFEE which made this event possible.  The students are learning about insects in science, and this was the perfect program to get them enthused about their learning. The program began with an engaging lesson on the different characteristics.  Then the students were able to observe seven different types of bugs or insects and learn about their unique features.  The students were able to pick up and hold three of the different specimens.  This program was very fun, engaging, and a great hands-on experience.  “Bugs Alive” will soon be traveling to Forest Hills and Field Park to give the rest of the first graders in District 101 the same wonderful opportunity.  The first grade teachers would like to thank WSFEE for making this possible.
