Celebrating “Back to School” …with a Rockin’ Good Time!

Families with children who attend the First Congregational Church of Western Springs Preschool gathered to celebrate "Back to School" at the Preschool's annual kick-off event.

Families with children who attend the First Congregational Church of Western Springs Preschool gathered to celebrate “Back to School” at the Preschool’s annual kick-off event.  The children attending the preschool were invited to bring their whole family to see old friends and make new ones, while enjoying games, moon jumps, sweet treats, and live children’s entertainment.

The children were welcomed by the sounds of “Miss Linda”, who has been teaching Wiggleworm music classes for the Old Town School of Music, and delighting children and their families for 17 years.  Miss Linda’s spontaneity, excitement and joyful voice engage everyone, encouraging them to dance, sing, and create as they lose themselves in a land of music.  Linda was joined by percussionist (and husband!) James Warner.  Following the entertainment, children were invited to jump, play, create and enjoy the other festivities of the day.

The event, which is sponsored by the Preschool Committee, is held every year as a way to welcome the children back to school.  Sarah Finnane, Preschool Committee member in charge of the event said, “it was a joy to see our preschool community - students, teachers, parents and siblings - having fun together and celebrating the beginning of what promises to be another great year at our school."
