LT prose student receives top prize

Lyons Township High School senior Caroline Pernai, of Willow Springs, won a 1st place award for her prose piece, “The Stars.” Her piece will be published in the Illinois Association of Teachers of English (IATE) special fall edition of Illinois English Bulletin, along with the pieces by other winners of prose and poetry in the State of Illinois, For more than 40 years, the IATE has sponsored the contest for students in grades 6-12 as a way to recognize exceptional student writing and to encourage students to pursue the pleasures and challenges of the literary life.
