Splish! Splash! The Waves are a Smash!
Perhaps you have heard the cheering, or seen the flags waving in the night lights, or wondered why you cannot pass the pool without major traffic these days? Well it’s the WSSC Waves gliding through the water that is causing all the commotion down at the pool. The Waves A and B teams are off to a fantastic start already.

The 2012 Summer Season was kicked off with the A team facing Lemont on June 12.

Of 80 events, the team took first place 42 times and second 34 times. The 9 & 10 boys won 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 3 of their events. Some highlights from this meet :
11 & 12 Boys 50 Free : Henry Claesson took first with a time of 30.87 seconds.
11 & 12 Girls 100 Individual Medley, Maggie Ferguson took first, with a time of 1:18.43
Chris Philips turned in a time of 1:18.42 in the 13&14 IM
The B Team then faced Lemont the following Saturday, June 16 and took first in 29 events and second in 33 events. The 9 & 10 boys were on a roll with 1st , 2nd & 3rd in five of their 8 eight events. Times to note include:
Stella Harding with a time of 39.18 in the 9&10 Girls 50 Free
Owen Hays with a 40.28 in the 9&10 Boys 50 Free
Claire O’Donnell 31.21 seconds in the 50 Free for 11&12 Girls
Now warmed up, the A Team faced Clarendon Hills on June 19 and were impressive! The team took first and second in a whopping 52 events. The 11&12 girls shone brightly winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 6 of their 8 events. Swimmers to watch include:
Maeve Swinehart with a blistering 27.91 seconds in the 11&12 Girls 50 Butterfly
Ellie Pendleton at 33.41 seconds in the 9& 10 Girls 50 Free
Livvie Gresge with a 29.78 seconds in the 11&12 Girls 50 Free
Paige Mitchell and Spencer Walker completing the 11&12 100 Yard IM in just over 1 minute.
