Western Springs Historical Society Museum Re-Opens January 26

Western Springs Museum Opens after being closed for three months for stairway project.

The Western Springs Historical Society’s Water Tower Museum will open on Sat., Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until noon after being closed during the Village’s construction of a new entry staircase.

The Museum will have a new exhibit on the first floor honoring Dr. Hospers, the
Village’s first full-time physicians.  It features his exam chair, instruments and information about his career.   Also on the first floor, visitors can see
digital slides of the Village through the years as well as a timeline of key
dates in its history.

“We are excited to be open again.   We had to take everything off the walls and cover everything with tarps to get ready forthe project.  Our volunteers have worked hard to get everything back in place and ready to re-open,”  said Allyson Zak, WSHS Board President.

The Museum opened in 1979 and has been managed by the WSHS since then.  Two years ago, volunteers re-designed the second floor exhibits adding a tribute to early Western Springs businesses and one on sports and recreation in Western Springs.  Admission is free.

The Western Springs Historical Society is an independent nonprofit organization
that works to instill an appreciation of the Village’s history in residents of
all ages.  In addition to the Water Tower Museum, the Society maintains archives of Village information in its office in Grand Avenue Community Center and the Ekdahl House, located at Wolf Road and 42nd Street.   To volunteer, please call
708-246-9230. For more information on WSHS, please visit www.westernspringshistory.org.
