WAVES Win A-Conference for the Twentieth Year!
With the 2012 Summer Season drawing to a close, we have to end the WAVES season too, but what a great season for swimming it was! So many worked hard to taste the thrill of victory both individually and as a team, plus, we saw some incredible time improvements.
To win A-Conference for the 20th consecutive year, the WAVES swam for 32 first place medals and 33 second place medals with the 11&12 Girls and Boys bringing home an amazing 12 Blue Medals and 8 Red Medals by themselves!

In the 50 Meter Backstroke- Grace Newman and Graeme Gantt both captured second by dropping 5.02s and 5.77s from their top times. In the 50 Meter Freestyle Jack Wanless clinched a first by shaving off 3.76 seconds.
9& 10
Ian Ward seized first place in the 50 Meter Backstroke with a 2.87s improvement in his best time.
11&12
100 Meter Individual Medley swimmer Maggie Ferguson dropped 2.1 s for first place and while in the 50 Meter Backstroke Maeve Swinehart snatched second place by dropping 2.45s and Madison Wanless cut 2.07s off for third place.
13&14
In the 100 Meter Freestyle – Livvie Gresge placed third by dropping 2.96 seconds.
15 & 18
Jack Patel swam the 100 Meter Individual Medley 5.63s faster to secure second place.
The WSSC WAVES also won 2nd place in the B Conference held on July 14, 2012. So many kids really put forth their best effort so that the team was able to take first in a total of 28 events, second in 16 events and third place in 18 events.
Many significant time improvements in each age group:
8 & Under
Murphy Byrne took second by dropping 4.22 s in the 25 Yard Freestyle, Charlie Greifenkamp took second in the 25 Yard Butterfly by dropping 4.75s, Ryan Maley cut 3.32s off her 25 Yard Backstroke time for 6th place, In the 25 Yard Breaststroke Delaney Sullivan dropped 3.53s for fourth place and Garrett Walls improved by 4.83 seconds for fifth.
9&10
Own Hays improved by 2.62s while in the 50 Yard Backstroke, Alec Hill, Jackson Gantt, and Mitchell McNichols dropped 3.21s, 3.09s and 5.11s to take first, third and fourth places.
11&12
Michael Korenchan dropped 3.4s for the 50 Yard Freestyle fourth place and in the 50 Yard Backstroke Kaley Kessler dropped 3.05s for first and Matthew Cavanaugh also took first by dropping 2.83. Emily Best dropped 3.81 seconds for first place in the 50 Yard Breaststroke.
13&14
Molly Ferfuson took 7th by dropping 4.8s off her best time in the 50 Yard Freestyle and Tim O’Gallagher dropped 3.51s in the 50 Yard Backstroke to win fourth place.
