Car Burglaries, Stolen Car Reported In Western Springs: Cops
Five cars were broken into and one car was stolen between Sunday night and Monday morning, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs Police are investigating five car buglaries, one car theft and one recovered stolen vehicle. Police said all of these incidents happened between 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 and 2 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 in the 4000 and 4100 blocks of Hampton Avenue, 4000 block of Western Avenue and the 4000 block of Grand Avenue.
Police said in all five car burglaries, the offender entered through unlocked doors and ransacked the cars. No items have been reported missing.
The stolen car was taken from a driveway in the 4000 block of Grand Avenue. The offender gained access through an unlocked door and found the key fob in the car. The car reported stolen is a maroon 2012 Nissan Armada bearing an Illinois registration.

The recovered stolen car was found in the 4000 block of Grand Avenue. It was initially reported stolen out of Dolton at 9:57 p.m. Jan. 13.

- Keep all vehicle doors and windows closed and locked at all times, even during quick errands. Lock the trunk, hatchback or tailgate to block access to your vehicle. Close all vents or wing windows and sunroofs. Always take your keys with you.
- If your vehicle has a built-in security system, use it.
- Remove visible items (cash, wallet, purse, IPods and cell phones) from the vehicle or place them in the trunk. If you leave items visible in your vehicle, you are a target.
- Park your vehicle in an area that is visible to the public.
- A person looking into parked vehicles may be looking for a vehicle to steal or valuables left in plain view.
- Organize a neighborhood watch group in your community.
