Car Burglaries, Vehicle Theft Continue In Western Springs: Police

Police remind residents to lock cars, and remove all valuables from the interior of the car.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs Police continue to investigate a string of motor vehicle burglaries and car theft happening in the area and several other Chicago suburbs, according to police. According to a release, several motor vehicle burglaries and two vehicle thefts have occurred since the beginning of the year to as recently as May 17.

Police said in each of these reported incidents, vehicles had been left unlocked, and offenders accessed the car through unlocked doors. The two vehicles that were stolen both had keys left inside the unlocked car.

According to a release, police are urging residents to remove valuables and all keys or key fobs from the interior of the vehicle and then locking your car.

Police said residents are asked not to approach any suspicious subjects and are encouraged to call 911 to report all suspicious activity.
