Car Stolen, Church Damage: Western Springs Cops

A car with the keys inside was stolen in Western Springs, report says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Western Springs Police Department released its latest police reports. Here is information from the reports:

Theft

  • A car parked in a driveway in the 4000 block of Central Avenue was stolen Sept. 7. The keys were left in the car. The report did not say whether the car was unlocked.
  • A Garmin navigation system was stolen Sept. 7 from an unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 4000 block of Central Avenue.

Arrests

  • Johnnie Wells, 53, of Chicago, was arrested shortly before midnight Thursday at Ogden Avenue and Wolf Road on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operation of an uninsured vehicle and improper use of registration of title.
  • Valerie Perez, 29, of Plainfield, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Will County Jail on a Western Springs outstanding warrant on a charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
  • Vincent Latham, 27, of Willowbrook, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ogden and Woodland avenues on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license and speeding.

Damage

  • A house's gutter was damaged between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and 11 a.m. Sept 6 in the 4300 block of Franklin Avenue. The gutter was found lying partway on the driveway and the street. It showed signs of damage.
  • A bumper and tailgate of a car were damaged Sept. 7 in the 4900 block of Grand Avenue. A doorbell video showed a bicyclist striking the rear bumper of the car and continuing riding.
  • Two display signs were damaged Sept. 9 at First Congregational Church, 1106 Chestnut St.

Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
