Dog Rescued Outside Western Springs Store
Animal was seen inside car when it was 95 degrees outside, report says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A dog was rescued last week when it was seen inside a car on a hot day outside a Western Springs grocery store, according to Western Springs police. Someone saw the dog in the car at Mariano's, 4700 Gilbert Ave., when the temperature outside was 95 degrees, police said. The car's front windows were open about 2 inches.
The dog was removed from the car by the police department's community service officer and taken to the police station. The dog's owner was ticketed for animal cruelty.
