DUI Crackdown In Western Springs Runs Through St. Pat's Weekend
Western Springs police will be out looking for drunk drivers and seat belt law violators through Sunday, March 17.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – When out drinking this weekend or at anytime, make sure to plan to have a sober driver take you home. That's the message from the Western Springs Police Department, who plan to keep a close eye on impaired drivers in the village over the St. Patrick's Day holiday weekend. The department is taking part in the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click-It or Ticket" enforcement campaigns from Wednesday, March 13 until Sunday, March 17.
Police officers will increase their visible traffic enforcement, focusing on impaired driving and unbuckled motorists throughout Western Springs during this time. They will be adding additional enforcement efforts during nighttime hours, police said.
The department cited a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study that showed 234 lives were lost during drunk driving crashes over the St. Patrick's Day holiday from 2013 until 2017.
