'Fierce Biting Dog,' DUI: Western Springs Police

Officers respond to an incident in which a dog bit a person and two other dogs.

WESTERN SPRINGS — In recent days, Western Springs police have responded to a DUI and an incident involving a "fierce biting dog." Here is the information from the police department's latest blotter:

  • A loose dog bit two dogs and a person about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20 in the 500 block of Hillgrove Avenue. The offending dog was found, and the owner of the dog was ticketed for having a dog at large and a "fierce biting dog."
  • Melbourne Ames, 20, of Crystal Lake, was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. Dec. 16 at Ogden and Central avenues on a charge of possession of marijuana in a vehicle. The charge was added to a previous arrest in November.
  • Travell Taylor, 25, of Chicago, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 14 in the 1200 block of 55th Street on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and parking in a way to obstruct the roadway. An officer noticed the vehicle was parked in the middle of the road.
  • Two packages were stolen from the front porch of a house Dec. 16 in the 400 block of Ellington Avenue. The items were valued at more than $500.
  • Several packages were stolen Dec. 9 from the front porch of a house in the 5000 block of Woodland Avenue.
