TRAFFIC ALERT: Freight Train Blocks Railroad Crossing in Western Springs

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL -

Update: BNSF now estimates repair time to 4:30 p.m.

All Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad grade crossings in Western Springs are currently blocked by a freight train that is experiencing mechanical issues.

The village said to expect significant traffic congestion on Wolf Road along the BNSF tracks. The Western Springs Police is encouraging motorists to utilize alternate routes and directing pedestrians to the underpass located at Hillgrove-Burlington & Clausen Avenue.

BNSF officials said that repairs will be completed prior to 3:15 p.m.
