German students immersed in the culture

Spring break travels included attending school, touring castles and watching soccer

Lyons Township High School German students spent their spring break touring castles, ice-skating, watching soccer and immersing themselves in the German culture. They attended school in Stuttgart and made presentations to German students about life in America. They lived with, dined with and played with German families, making life-long friends in the process.

Their trip began with a welcome dinner, a tour of Stuttgart, a trip to the town of Heidelberg and Heidelberg University. They also toured the Mercedes Museum and attended a soccer game. They took a trip to Ludwigsburg palace and its gardens, went ice-skating and go-carting and toured a castle in Neuschwanstein.

German teacher and German Club sponsor Karen Hoobyar said, “I hope this trip inspired a love for the German language, helped students gain a global perspective and allowed students to make friendships that will last a lifetime.”
