High School Senior Accused of Using Altered Credit Card

Prosecutors say teen tried withdrawing money from bank with altered card and was arrested after she left her ID behind.

BRIDGEVIEW -- An 18-year-old high school senior is accused of walking into a Countryside bank and trying to withdraw $1,000 with an altered credit card.

Khalian Spencer, 18, of Calumet City, appeared in bond court Wednesday after she was charged with unlawful use of an altered or counterfeit credit card.

Prosecutors said Spencer went up to a teller at the PNC bank branch in Countryside, where she tried to withdraw money using an altered credit card.

When the teller rejected the card, prosecutors said Spencer walked away and left her ID behind, leading to her arrest.

Court records indicate that she had a felony arrest for possession of a controlled substance last year.

Bail was set at $30,000, with ten percent to apply. The judge ordered electronic monitoring and random urine drops should she be able to bond out.

Spencer’s next court date is set for Sept. 7.
