With the infamously dangerous crossing scheduled to receive a major safety upgrade next spring, these homes offer premier access to Western Springs' best source of nearby parkland.
Despite some energetic by some residents of Woodland Avenue, the scary Bemis Woods access crossing at the corner of Woodland and Ogden Avenue is scheduled be updated in the spring of 2012 with flashing lights and painted stop-bars directing traffic to stop for pedestrians.
The terrifying four-lane dash to Bemis has been a thorn in the side of joggers, bikers and nature enthusiasts in Western Springs for yearsβbut that should finally change by next summer, making Bemis Woods' paths a far more attractive option for exercise or relaxation.
