Labor Day 2017: What's Closed, What's Open In Western Springs

Here's a roundup of what's open and what's closed on Labor Day.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — For most people, Labor Day marks the end of summer, even though the official end of summer isn't until late summer. However, by Labor Day, the kids are back in school and the relaxed summer routine is replaced.

This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Since Labor Day is a federal holiday, it means a day off work and no school for children, and many municipal services are also closed.

  • Village offices closed. For nonemergency issues relating to water and streets, contact the non-emergency police number at 708-246-8540.
  • Thomas Ford Memorial Library, closed Monday.
  • District 101 schools and Lyons Township High School closed Monday.
  • Waste/garbage services, no services Monday.
