LTHS announces District Musicians

Fifty-seven Lyons Township High School student musicians were recently selected for the Illinois Music Educators Association District I Band, Orchestra, Choir, Jazz Band and Jazz Choir. Students were selected through a highly competitive audition process, with more than 2,000 students auditioning from more than 80 high schools in Chicago and the west and south suburbs. Selected students spent a day working with guest conductors in a large ensemble format, which culminated in a series of performances at Thornwood High School and Elmhurst College. Being named a District Musician is the first step toward being selected as an All-State Musician, which selects the finest musicians throughout the state of Illinois and invites them to participate in all-state ensembles at the state music convention in January.
