Overall Crime Down 22.7 Percent in Riverside
Riverside police have released the mid-year crime/activity index report.

The Riverside Police Department has released the 2015 midyear Crime Index, which is a statistical synopsis of all crimes mandated to be reported to the Illinois State Police. This report includes:
- Overall Crime Index down 22.7% from 2014 (first six months)
- Criminal arrests up 1.1% (first six months)
- Juvenile arrests up 18.7% (first six months)
- Thefts down 44.4%(first six months)
- Calls for police service up 3.7% (first six months)
The police department received 7,476 calls for police response/service in the first six months of 2015.

“Effective communication with our residents and business community, tactical deployment of resources and a recently implemented residential traffic patrol as well and bicycle patrol ... were large components of our quality of life strategies at midyear,” said Chief Thomas Weitzel.
