Patch Picks: Five Delicious Area Burgers

This week Patch Picks the best burgers around the Lyons Township area. Here were our most popular choices from our most discriminating palates (and their people):

1. Bird-ger. , 56 South La Grange Road, La Grange, 708-482-7127. Palmer’s gets enthusiastic thumbs up from our readers—but Western Springs Patch editor Darren McRoy loves Palmer’s ostrich burger. Why? “Because it's an ostrich!” Not so sure the big bird was as enthusiastic.
2. In between the ears and over the teeth. Meatheads, 7137 S. Kingery Highway, Willowbrook, 630-325-6608. Sami Flanagan of Western Springs recommends Meatheads for the “fast food-y types.” This burger joint also seems to have a Sedona-like vortex that sucks in children and makes them fans for life.
3. “I want mine with a side of ghost please.” , 241 55th Street, Clarendon Hills, 630-325-1444. Country House is famous for its haunted history, but our readers like the burgers too. Terri Lane of Western Springs recommends the bison burger.
4. It actually faces the road. , 13 South La Grange Road, La Grange, 708-482-7909. La Grange business owner (Vintage Charm) and resident Nancy Allodi recommends Back Alley Burger. This was an enthusiastically popular pick among many readers that read more like “Back Alley Burger!” It’s all in the exclamation point.
5. Rhymes with fork. York Tavern, 3702 York Road, Oak Brook, 630-323-5090. Brookfield teacher Anastasia Nakis recommends York Tavern for its “old-fashioned small patty tavern-y goodness” Yum.
