Patch Picks: Five Places to Spend St. Patrick's Day

Traditional Irish fare and fun are on the menu.

It's St. Patrick's Day! (Are you wearing your green?) Here's Patch's picks for a few places in and around Western Springs and La Grange that we recommend paying a visit today to get your Irish on!

  1. Skip the green shake, go for the whole festival: , 56 S. La Grange Road, La Grange, 708-482-7127. The restaurant is hosting its 28th Annual Shamrock Festival. They will feature live entertainment and Irish specialties from March 17th-March 19th.
  2. If you want to drink your meal or eat your drink: Kenny’s Irish Pub, 917 W. 55th Street, Countryside, 708-354-0991. Try some Guiness stew or beer-potato soup with your corned beef and cabbage.
  3. Loud music: great during the party, bad the morning after: , 5403 South LaGrange Road, 708-469-7750.Β On March 17th, the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band will perform as well for you as they did for the President.
  4. Specials smecials, it’s Irish here year-round: Irish Times, 8869 Burlington Avenue, Brookfield (708) 485-8787. Traditional Irish fare is always in the menu. Try the Irish stew or shepherd’s pie made with real shepherds, and you can hop the Burlington home if your car isn’t up for the ride.
  5. If you want to stay off the road: , 915 Burlington, 246-0380. Place your order today for pick up on St. Patrick’s day. Save your Febreze; let them cook the stinky cabbage.
