Pedestrian Sees Driver Touching Himself at Stop Sign: Police

Identity theft, drunken driving and car burglary were also reported.

A pedestrian reportedly saw a man driving a white van Aug. 27 place his hand on his exposed genitals while the van was stopping at a stop sign at Hampton Avenue and Maple Street, according to Western Springs Police. There were no other witnesses. The man was described as a white male with short brown hair, and he may have had tattoos on his arms. The van was described as a late model white Enterprise Rental van. The man didn’t make eye contact or speak with the pedestrian, and he continued north on Hampton Avenue and then west on Ogden Avenue.

Ann L Stafford, age 45 of the 4300 block of Prospect Avenue, was arrested Aug. 22 and charged with aggravated drunken driving, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and no insurance, according to Western Springs police. She was seen driving erratically, and she failed filed sobriety tests. An open bottle of wine was found in her car, police reported.

Someone fraudulently obtained and used a victim’s credit card information Aug. 27 to make unauthorized purchases totaling about $7,000, according to Western Springs police. The fraud reportedly occurred between June 4 and Aug. 16.

Someone reportedly entered an unlocked parked car between Aug. 27 and 28 in a driveway in the 5100 block of Grand Avenue, according to Western Springs police. The burglar stole loose change and $5 from the center console.
