Porch Pirate Caught On Camera In Western Springs

Suspect covered his face with his jacket as he walked up to the front door, police say.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs police said Monday they were seeking a porch pirate who took two packages from the front door of a house in the 3900 block of Ellington Avenue. A doorbell camera recorded the theft.

Police describe the man as being about 6 feet tall, in his late 20s or early 30s and having a medium-size build. While walking up to the front door, he covered his face with his jacket, police said.

The man was wearing blue jeans, a navy blue jacket and a white winter hat. From the video footage, the man appears to be traveling from the direction of 40th Street, police said. He grabbed two packages off the front porch and went north toward 39th Street.

The two packages contained two 12-foot lengths of garland, valued at $196, police said.
