Portable Potty Fire, Thefts: Western Springs Cops
Youths were seen running away from the fire in a local neighborhood, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs released its latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the reports:
Portable toilet fire
- A portable toilet was set on fire Thursday night near Grove Avenue and Maple Street. Youths were seen running away from the area. The fire department put out the fire.
Bicycle thefts

- A resident in the 4100 block of Western Avenue told police June 12 that his son's friend's bicycle was stolen from the driveway. The bike was valued at $150.
- A woman told police June 12 that her bicycle was stolen from the bike rack at the train station in the 900 block of Burlington Avenue. The bike was worth from $500 to $800.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 4100 block of Rose Avenue told police Thursday that a suspect twice attempted to fraudulently add the resident's credit card to an Apple Pay account.
Hit-and-run

- A woman told police Thursday that another car struck hers while her car was in the Mariano's grocery store parking lot, 4700 Gilbert Ave.
DUI
- Frank Bland Jr., 28, of Chicago, was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of Johnson Avenue on charges of DUI, driving with a revoked license, driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage. He was involved in a single-car crash. He was released on bond.
Driving violations
- James D. Messer, 47, of Prospect Heights, was cited about 4 p.m. Friday at 53rd Street and Central Avenue on charges of no valid driver's license and disobeying a stop sign. He was released on bond.
- Carlos R. Gonzales, 30, of Chicago, was cited about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Grand Avenue and 55th Street on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and speeding. He was released on bond.
