Retail Theft, Fence Damage: Western Springs Police
Police were called to store while a theft was in progress, report says.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Western Springs Police Department on Monday released its latest police reports:
- Nicholas A. Komater, 30, of Cary, was arrested about 7 p.m. May 6 at Walgreens, 4700 Gilbert Ave., on charges of retail theft and obstructing identification. Police were called to the store about a retail theft in progress. According to a Hinsdale police report, Komater was arrested at 1 p.m. May 8 on charges of obstructing identification and trespass on railroad property. Police said Komater, who had left the local hospital against medical advice, was seen walking on the train tracks near the Highland Train Station. He then gave a false identify to police. When police learned his true identity, they discovered he had outstanding arrest warrants. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Hinsdale police listed a Chicago address for Komater.
- A white PVC fence was damaged about 10 p.m. May 8 in the 4000 block of Woodland Avenue. The damage was estimated to be more than $300. This is part of a string of fence vandalism since mid-February.
- A resident in the 4100 block of Grand Avenue reported that someone attempted to gain access to personal accounts by hacking a cellphone.
Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
