Run For Kelli Hosted At Lyons Township
Run For Kelli, hosted by the Kelli Joy O'Laughlin Memorial Fund, will take place at Lyons Township in Western Springs.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Run For Kelli, hosted by the Kelli Joy O'Laughlin Memorial Fund, will take place at Lyons Township High School in Western Springs. O'Laughlin was a freshman at Lyons Township when she was killed in 2011 by a burglar in her home in Indian Head Park.
According to the memorial website, O'Laughlin loved cross country, and the memorial hosts the run in her name and memory.
The run will take place Sunday, Oct. 1 at LT, 4900 Willow Springs Road. According to the website, the course for the 5K makes its way around LT South Campus, following the cross country course. The event also features a 1 mile walk, if participants don't want to do the 5K. The run raises money for college scholarships for high school seniors throughout the state.

Refreshments are provided at the race, there is face painting and activities for kids, according to the website.
The memorial fund holds several events throughout the year to honor O'Laughlin, including a tennis invite and a golf outing.
