Saint John of the Cross Parish School presents OKLAHOMA!

Saint John of the Cross Parish School students return to the old west in their production of OKLAHOMA!

Saint John of the Cross Parish School students prepare to present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s smash hit musical, OKLAHOMA! this weekend. Over fifty students in grades five through eight rehearsed three to four nights a week in preparation for this year’s spring musical. The first musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein tells the story of cowboy, Curly MacClaine, played by 8th grader, Revere Laird, and his budding romance with farm girl, Laurey, played by Lauren Scriba, also in the 8th grade. The students are under the direction of Steve Wright, choreographed by Trudy Gavin, with musical direction by Ann Maney. Many parents designed sets, costumes, and other production elements. Art teacher and parent, Guy Casper along with parents, Paul Laird and Bob Wehner, headed up the set design and construction crew. Their artwork gives the audience the true feel that they will be swept into Oklahoma territory at the turn of the century.

SJC students perform OKLAHOMA! this weekend, April 24th and April 25th at 7:00 p.m. and a final performance on Sunday, April 26th at 2:00 p.m.
