SPRING AHEAD with kids' programs!

Presented by Ford Library during March and April!

The Youth Services Department of Thomas Ford Memorial Library is hosting a bright new crop of programs for children and families. Take a look! Unless otherwise stated, all events are free and take place at the Thomas Ford Memorial Library, 800 Chestnut St., Western Springs. For more information or to register, call (708) 246-0520.

AFTER SCHOOL SCIENCE Wednesday, March 18 p.m. and April 8, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Young scientists are invited to explore, create, and discover through stories and hands-on experiments. March 18: magnets; April 8: weather. Grades 1-3.

LEGO FAMILY EXHIBITION Saturday, March 20, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. We know you love Legos and creating with them at home and in the library. We invite you to a special exhibition of amazing Lego creations built by members of the Chicago Area Lego Users Group (ChiLUG). ChiLUG members will be on hand to answer all your Lego questions. You will also have an opportunity to build and show off your own Lego skills. Families are welcome to attend during the exhibit hours; no registration needed.

MISS JAMIE’s FARM CONCERT @ GRAND AVENUE Saturday, April 2, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Miss Jamie’s Farm Music Show is a high-energy, audience-interactive musical play with farm animal puppets. Kids can sing along, dance, and participate in trivia about farm animals and farm foods. Please note: This event takes place at Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, Western Springs. All ages.

EARTH DAY CRAFT Thursday, April 2, 4:30-5:15 p.m. Celebrate Earth Day by making cool items using recycled materials. Your child will make an eco-friendly bag and kaleidoscope.Grades 2-4.

BOOK SCULPTURE Thursday, April 16, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Come join Miss Cathy from Plentiful Programs and transform an old book or magazine into a work of art! You’ll learn to fold, glue, and change books and magazines into amazing hangings, art pieces, and sculptures! Materials will be provided. Grades 3-5.
