Residents of Indian Head Park in suburban Cook County were warned to lock their doors after a girl was reportedly attacked by a knife-wielding intruder on Wednesday night.

Police did not release the age of the girl, who told police she was home alone at around 6:45 p.m. when she heard noises on the first floor of the house, Indian Head Park Police Sgt. Raymond Leuser said. The girl said she went downstairs, where she found a white male wearing a mask in her kitchen, Leuser said.
