Police will also be increasing patrols, focusing on school areas during the drop-off and pick-up hours.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A suspicious man recently approached two children and asked if they wanted any candy, police said. The incident occurred on Oct. 17 at 3:40 p.m. in the 4200 block of Lawn Avenue. Police said a man in an older model light blue sedan with a tan top and rust on the passenger side doors approached two children.

Police said the driver was described as a white man in his 60s, who was bald on the top of his head with white hair on the sides of his head. The man reached over the passenger side of the vehicle holding what appeared to be a brown paper package, and asked, "Want some lollipops?" The man then left traveling southbound on Lawn Avenue.

No actual or attempted physical contact was made with the children, police said. Several responding police units checked the area but were unable to locate the suspicious vehicle. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
