Teen 'Aggressively' Resisting Arrest Injures Cop With Punch: Police
Police say 17-year-old had earlier consumed several alcoholic beverages.

A Western Springs police officer got punched when he tried to arrest a teen who had consumed several alcoholic beverages, reports said.
Police responded to a call of several youths causing a disturbance in 48th Street and Grand Avenue area around 11:58 p.m. Sept. 27.
When officers arrived in the area, they spotted a 17-year-old male walking by himself who appeared to be stumbling, according to the report.

Police said when officers approached the youth, he proceeded to flee through several residential yards. Officers eventually caught up with him in a backyard in the 4900 block of Woodland Avenue.
The teen ”aggressively” resisted attempts by officers to detain him and punched a cop with a closed fist, police said

While searching the lad, police found a bag containing a possibly controlled, white powdery substance.
Police said the teen had earlier consumed several alcoholic beverages. The teen and the arresting officer both suffered minor injuries requiring medical treatment.
The youth was charged with charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, battery and underage drinking. Police aren’t releasing his name because he is a juvenile.
