Two Lions score silver at FCCLA state competition

Two Lyons Township High School sophomores competed in culinary events and both received silver medals.

Decorating cookies, baking cakes and sewing outfits are all in a day’s work for students who participated at the Illinois Family, Career and Community Leaders of America state competition. Two Lyons Township High School sophomores competed in culinary events and both received silver medals.

Sophomore Kaeli Keller, of LaGrange Park, competed in the Relish Tray category, which consists of making a fruit or veggie tray using proper knife skills and garnishing techniques.

Sophomore Taylor Anderson, of LaGrange competed in Food Innovations, where she had to make a drink that was nutritious and had specific protein and nutrient break downs.

Participants prepared a display, suggested product packaging and made an oral presentation.
