Two People Robbed During Snapchat Sale Gone Wrong: Western Springs Police

Western Springs Police are investigating a report of an alleged armed robbery that occurred Tuesday in the Mariano's parking lot.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs Police are investigating a report of an alleged armed robbery that occurred Tuesday in the Mariano's parking lot. According to a release from police, at 10:31 p.m. June 27, an 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man had arranged a sale of multiple items at the parking lot, located at 4700 Willow Springs Road.

The meeting was arranged with the offenders, who they met on Snapchat, according to police. The suspects entered the rear of the victim's vehicle to discuss the sale. When inside the vehicle one of the suspects allegedly said, "Honestly, we aren't going to give you anything."

According to the release, he then displayed a pocketknife. The suspects took a black purse and an iPhone 7 that belonged to the 18-year-old woman. The suspects then exited the vehicle and fled on foot, police said. They were last seen fleeing southbound through the parking lot.

According to the release, the suspect who allegedly displayed a pocket knife was described as a Hispanic male, between the ages of 19 and 21. He was approximately 5'10" to 6'1", 150 to 160 pounds, and wearing a gray, baggy hoodie and a snapback style hat.

The second suspect was described as a black male, age 19 to 21, 6'1" to 6'4", 160 to 170 pounds, and wearing a black hoodie and black pants, police said.

Police said no injuries were reported during this incident.
