Vodka Theft, Fraud Claims: Western Springs Police

Sixty vodka bottles were stolen from grocery store, police say.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — The Western Springs Police Department released its latest reports:

  • Thomas Cunningham, 31, of Lyons, was arrested shortly before midnight Sept. 3 in the 8500 block of Heritage Court on a bond forfeiture warrant on a revoked driver's license charge. He was arrested after police responded to a report of a disturbance. He posted bail and was released.
  • An unsecured bicycle was stolen Aug. 31 from behind the bike rack at Elite Fitness, 805 Burlington Ave.
  • Sixty bottles of vodka were stolen Sept. 2 from Mariano's, 4700 Gilbert Ave. The suspects were witnessed leaving the store with a grocery cart full of boxes of vodka.
  • A resident in the 4000 block of Western Avenue informed police Sept. 3 that a parent's identity, including Social Security number, was compromised. A Social Security account was opened in the parent's name, and applications were fraudulently made for a small business loan and credit cards.
  • Western Springs police received reports Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 about fraudulent claims for unemployment benefits filed in residents' names.
