Watch Thieves Ransack Unlocked Cars In Ridgewood Subdivision

A subdivision in Western Springs was targeted by a group of car burglars early Tuesday morning.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL - Police in Western Springs say they are investigating a number of car burglaries that were reported in the village in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Burglaries were reported between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., the Western Springs Police Department said in a news release.

Video shared below from a Nest camera in the Ridgewood subdivision shows four people get out of an SUV and ransack three vehicles, all of which appear to have been left unlocked, in a driveway in a matter of a couple of minutes.

A Western Springs police officer said a car was spotted leaving the subdivision at a fast speed just after this was caught on camera.

A laptop, purse and wallet were among the items stolen during the hour-long spree, police said.
