Western Springs Drug Suspect Arrested: Cops

Man is arrested in undercover operation after arranging heroin sale, police say.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A Western Springs man was arrested after undercover police officers caught him selling heroin, police said Wednesday. Police identified the man as Matthew A. Wieringa, 28.

On the night of Nov. 26, undercover police agents met with Wieringa in the 4400 block of Howard Avenue, where he lives. He arranged for the sale of two baggies of heroin to the agents, according to Western Springs police. He was arrested immediately.

Wieringa was charged with felony counts of heroin possession and possession with intent to deliver drugs. He was taken to Cook County Court, where his bond was set at $10,000.

Involved in the undercover operation were Western Springs police and agents from the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
