Western Springs Field Park Garden Holds Planting Day
Field Park Garden will hold a planting day on Monday, May 22.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Field Park Garden will hold a planting day on Monday, May 22. The garden is located at Field Park school, 4335 Howard Ave., near the playground on the east side of the school.
According to the garden's Facebook page, the 28’ x 44’ garden was built in October 2010 by a former Field Park student and Boy Scout as part of his Eagle Scout Project. It features six, 12’ x 4’ beds for use by the school’s six grade level classes and four, 2’ X 6’ beds.
According to a release, the community is welcome to harvest from the garden, but when you harvest, pick a few weeds to contribute and keep the garden growing well.

The garden also features a butterfly weigh station, and is completely organic.
According to a release, on planting day, each class will come out and plant different fruits and vegetables. The garden is open to the public, and fresh fruits and vegetables including corn, pumpkins, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, zucchini and several herbs are all available.
