Fire Damages Western Springs Garage, Causes 7K In Damages
The damage to the garage is approximately $7,000.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A garage was damaged in a fire Wednesday afternoon in the 4900 block of Lawn Avenue. According to a release from the Western Springs Fire Department, they received a call at 4:21 p.m. Aug. 16 from a neighbor about a possible garage fire. Upon arrival, firefighters saw fire on the exterior of the detached garage and moderate smoke.
According to the release, the fire was brought under control in a quick manner with an initial attack line and then the interior of the garage as well as the roof needed some overhaul and salvage work. There was no one home at the time the fire was called in.
The homeowner returned home shortly after fire crews arrived, according to the release. After discussion with the homeowner and scene examination it was determined that the origin and cause of the fire was due to spontaneous combustion of staining materials in a container outside the garage. The estimated damage is approximately $7,000.

According to the release, there were no injuries reported. The alarm was held to just the automatic aid crews from Hinsdale and Pleasantview.
