Western Springs House Fire Deemed 'Suspicious' By Investigators

A vacant home was damaged in a fire on March 29.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL - A vacant Western Springs home was damaged in a house fire on March 29. The house also had a previous fire on March 7.

Police and fire investigators have now classified the fire as "suspicious in nature" and the investigations remains ongoing.

At 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, the Western Springs Fire Department responded to a house fire at a vacant home in the 4900 block of Woodland Avenue.

When the fire department arrived, firefighters could see a fire on the first and second floors of the home. The fire was elevated to a Full Still level, which requests additional help from La Grange, Hinsdale, Pleasantview, Clarendon Hills, Westmont, Oak Brook and La Grange Park.

Crews got the fire under control, and the home was ventilated. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

The fire department said that investigators are on the scene with Western Springs Police Department to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
