Western Springs Police Participate In Illinois Rail Safety Week

Western Springs Police Department will be participating in Illinois Rail Safety Week from Sept. 24 to Sept. 30.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs Police Department will be participating in Illinois Rail Safety Week from Sept. 24 to Sept. 30. The department said enforcement details are planned throughout the week at various railroad grade crossings and commuter stations within Western Springs. The department will cite both drivers and pedestrians who disobey the laws associated with railroad grade crossings and railroad property. In addition, police said officers will be distributing literature to the public that contains information on how to be safe around trains and train tracks.

According to the release, Governor Rauner issued a proclamation and the ILACP is coordinating the fourth, state-wide Illinois Rail Safety Week in partnership with the Union Pacific and CN Railroads, along with support from state, county, and local law enforcement agencies, railroads, schools, and various private sector agencies.
