Western Springs Police Reports: Theft, Burglary, Drug Possession

Someone reportedly stole an Apple “iPhone 6 on May 6 from a backpack that was left unattended during class at Lyons Township South High School, according to Western Springs police. The theft sometime during the early afternoon. The stolen device had a retail value of $600.
Someone reportedly stole a wallet May 11 from an unattended backpack at Lyons Township South High School, according to Western Springs police. The theft occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. The wallet contained personal identification cards, gift cards and $15 cash.

Someone entered an unlocked parked landscaping truck May 14 and stole two cell phones, according to Western Springs police. The burglary happened in the 3900 block of Grove Avenue between 8:30 and 11:45 a.m.
Someone reportedly stole an unattended black leaf blower May 15 between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m., according to Western Springs police. The leaf blower was left on a residential parkway in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue, and it was valued at about $400.

Two male juveniles of Western Springs, one 15 years old and one 16 years old, were arrested and issued local ordinance citations May 15, according to Western Springs police. One was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and the other was cited for possession of cannabis. Police were called to the 4700 block of Commonwealth Avenue for reports of suspicious activity.
Someone reportedly stole an unlocked, unattended men’s bicycle May 13 between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at Spring Rock Park, according to Western Springs police. The bike was left near the skating rink at the lower level of the park. The bike was valued at about $1,000, police reported.
A 15-year-old boy of Western Springs was arrested May 22 and issued a local ordinance citation after he was found in possession of cannabis during school hours, according to Western Springs police. He was found at one of the baseball field dugouts at Lyons Township South High School.
Moideen K. Edassery, age 37 of the 100 block of North Linden Street, DuQuoin, was stopped May 24 for speeding at Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294, according to Western Springs police. Edassery’s breath smelled of alcohol, and he failed field sobriety tests, police reported. He was arrested for drunken driving.
