Western Springs Sees Slow Rate of Growth In Virus Cases
The village has only two new coronavirus cases over the past week.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Western Springs saw two more coronavirus cases in the last week, according to Cook County Public Health Department figures on Sunday. The previous week, the increase was three cases. Western Springs has had no deaths as a result of the coronavirus, according to the county medical examiner's office.

The village's situation is better than nearby suburbs. As of Sunday, Western Springs had 3.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 5.2 in Elmhurst, 5.3 in Clarendon Hills, 5.4 in Darien, 5.7 in La Grange Park, 8.4 in Burr Ridge, 8.9 in DuPage County, 10.3 in Hinsdale, 11.9 in La Grange and 13 in suburban Cook.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 127,757, up 6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 5,904 state residents.
Nationally, 2 million people have caught the virus and 112,471 have died from it.
