Western Springs Sergeant Completes Program With Northwestern University

Sergeant Phillip Lo Chirco recently graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Sergeant Phillip Lo Chirco of the Western Springs Police Department recently graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.

According to a release, Lo Chirco successfully completed the ten week program held in Plainfield from Jan. 9 through May 12. The program, which was instituted by Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety in 1983, has graduated thousands of students both nationally and internationally.

The department said Lo Chirco was a student in Class #408 which was comprised of 45 students during the ten-week course.

According to a release, the School of Police Staff and Command provides advanced level college instruction in many topics including management theory, organizational behavior, human resources for law enforcement, budgeting and staffing allocation.

The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in Evanston in 1936 with the specific goal of expanding university-based education and training for law enforcement professionals.
