Western Springs Victim In $110K Case To Be Reimbursed: Report
The resident told police he discovered an unauthorized withdrawal when he checked his account.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A Western Springs forgery victim will be reimbursed the $110,000 that he lost in a forgery, according to a police report.
Patch obtained the police report through a public records request. Patch first wrote about the case last week.
According to the report, a 50-year-old resident in the 3900 block of Clausen Avenue told police about the forgery on March 3.

Late last year, the man and his wife obtained a home equity line of credit from Heartland Bank and Trust, police said. Since then, the man has written just one check out of the account – for $25,000 – and has not used the credit since, police said.
When he went into the account on March 3, the man discovered a $110,000 unauthorized withdrawal, police said. He said he went to the bank, which advised him to file a police report.

The man reported that the signature on the check was not his or his wife's.
The fraudulent check was cashed at the Polish/Slavic Federal Credit Union, police said.
A Heartland Bank fraud analyst told an officer that the bank would reimburse the stolen money, according to the report.
