Where Western Springs Car Break-Ins Took Place

Unlocked cars were targeted in the early morning in a local neighborhood, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police have released more details on the rash of car break-ins early last Thursday morning.

Officers received reports of burglaries of cars parked in driveways at eight houses in town. All were within a few blocks of one another.

At seven of the eight houses, the cars were unlocked, police said. In the remaining case, police did not say.

A theft was reported in one of the burglaries, police said.

Western suburbs such as Hinsdale, Darien and Elmhurst have also reported burglaries lately.

Here is what Western Springs police reported about each burglary:

  • Two unlocked cars at a house in the 3900 block of Howard Avenue.
  • A car at a house in the 4100 block of Ellington Avenue. The report did not say whether the car was locked.
  • Two unlocked cars at a house in the 4100 block of Franklin Avenue.
  • An unlocked car at a house in the 4100 block of Ellington Avenue.
  • Two unlocked cars at a house in the 4100 block of Harvey Avenue.
  • An unlocked car at a house in the 4100 block of Harvey Avenue.
  • An unlocked car at a house in the 3900 block of Linden Avenue. Earbuds valued at $150 were stolen.
  • An unlocked car at a house in the 4100 block of Harvey Avenue.
