20-Year-Old Accused of Bringing Gun to West Side School: Cops
Julius Burke was arrested after Chicago police found a handgun and ammo in his locker at West Town Academy.

CHICAGO, IL — A 20-year-old man is accused bringing a handgun and ammunition to a West Side school on Thursday, causing a campus lockdown, according to Chicago police.
Julius Burke, 20, of the 3400 block of West Adams Street, was arrested after he was identified as the person who was seen with the weapon on school grounds, police said in a statement. He faces a charge of unlawful use of a weapon at a public school and is set to appear in court Friday, Oct. 7.
Police were called to West Town Academy, in the 500 block of North Sacramento Avenue, at about 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in response to a report of a student with a firearm. The campus was locked down once police arrived, and officers searched school grounds for the weapon.

A gun was discovered during a search of Burke's locker, according to police. Officers also reported finding bullets in one of Burke's sock.
